We have started a new program at HAA — Community Impact Productions. In the fall of 2017 we did a benefit show, “Runaways” that all proceeds went to our building fund for the future. This was directed by two previous actors who were a part of the original production years prior at HAA. The two directors handpicked actors who were involved in the original production at HAA, while also adding several new faces to the cast. They rehearsed minimally, because most performers were already familiar with the material from the production years before. This benefit show was a great success.

Funding has been granted by various generous donors to bring this program to light again. We have hired performers and the production staff for both productions already and rehearsals are underway.

What Our Project Will Do. Community Impact Productions Project has a two-pronged approach to growing our theater program, while also growing our resources for the youth we already serve. First we will strategically conduct outreach to adult professionals in helping professions such as mental health, education, and social services. We will invite them to two live theater productions specifically targeting youth and family issues. We believe the best way to educate the larger caring community about the transformative power of theater arts for at-risk youth is to “show them” by doing what we do best.  We will host youth-serving professionals at our theater and present dramas dealing with mental health issues relevant to adolescents and families in our community. We will create and advertise an attractive “adult night out” in our theater, complete with drinks and appetizers.  Second we will focus on building relationships with mental health professionals, so we can refer our 400 students a year to them if the situation were to arise. At HAA we see many youth and young adults come through our doors that need some extra support. We would love to have resources to give these actors/students.

To speak it plainly, we are looking for programs, individuals, and businesses to collaborate with. We would love to become a resource for you, while you also become a resource for us.

How You Can Get Involved:

We are looking for sponsors for our two productions. The cost of rights, production staff, actor stipends, set construction, utilities and set decoration will cost roughly $2,000 per production. Please contact HAA@harringtonartsalliance.org if you are interested in being a personal or business sponsor for one of our Community Impact Productions.
